A Quick Guide to Rovinj

Europe > Croatia > Rovinj

The Jewel that is Rovinj

Rovinj is the gem of the Istrian coast. Step into the old town and it feels as if you’re in the wrong country. Which country? You ask. Well that would be Italy. The town is painted in Venetian style architecture, from its houses to the stylish piazzas. And with small artist workshops peppered about town, it makes for a nucleus for flourishing culture. When it comes to food and drink, you won’t find better than in the restaurants situated along the steep little streets and the trendy bars that line the waterfront.

Just a 15 minute walk from the old town is Golden Cape, a forest park with its small beaches. One of which is ‘Lone bay’, the most visited by residents and visitors alike. Here you can swim until your heart’s content in the turquoise waters, or simply relax under a tree with a cold refreshing drink.

Pula, the largest city in the Istrian peninsula is but a 45 minute drive away. Here lies a wealth of Roman ruins with the star attraction being a Roman amphitheatre that’s been left in great condition considering its age.
